2019 Mileage Rates

2019 Business & Other Mileage Rates

For 2019, the Internal Revenue Service has issued its optional standard mileage rates. You can use these rates to calculate the deductible costs of operating an automobile. These rates apply for cars, vans, pickups and panel trucks.

Beginning in 2019, the standard mileage rates are:

    • 58 cents per mile for business miles driven
    • 20 cents per mile driven for medical or moving purposes
    • 14 cents per mile in serving charitable organizations

You always have the option of calculating the actual costs of using your vehicle. For more information, visit the IRS website for the full article on business mileage reimbursement.

Also, keep in mind you may not use the mileage rate for a vehicle after using any depreciation method under the Modified Accelerated Cost Recovery System.  Nor, can you use it after claiming a Section 179 deduction for that vehicle.

In addition, you may not use the business standard mileage rate for more than four vehicles used simultaneously.
