Highpoint Advisory Services Inc. (“Highpoint,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a certified public accounting and advisory firm based in Schaumburg, Illinois. Information you give us as a client of the firm is also governed by your engagement letter and by the professional confidentiality obligations described below.

Information you give us. When you complete a form on the Site, request a consultation, download a resource, or email or call us, we collect the information you provide. This usually includes your name, business name, email address, telephone number, and whatever you choose to tell us about your business and what you need help with.

Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site, our hosting provider and analytics tools collect standard technical information, including your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring page, the pages you view, and the dates and times of your visits. This information is collected through cookies and similar technologies.

Information we do not collect through the Site. Please do not send tax returns, financial statements, payroll records, Social Security numbers, bank or account numbers, or other sensitive documents through the Site forms or by ordinary email. Confidentiality of client information​

As an Illinois-licensed certified public accounting firm, Highpoint is subject to professional standards governing the confidentiality of client information, including the Illinois Public Accounting Act and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants Code of Professional Conduct. Tax return information is further protected under Section 7216 of the Internal Revenue Code, which restricts the disclosure or use of that information without your written consent, subject to limited exceptions permitted by law. These obligations apply in addition to this policy and, where they are more protective, they control.

How we protect information

We maintain administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, use or disclosure, including access controls, encrypted transmission of client documents, and a written information security program appropriate to the size of the firm and the sensitivity of the information we hold. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

If a breach of the security of personal information occurs, we will provide notice as required by the Illinois Personal Information Protection Act, 815 ILCS 530, and any other applicable law.

How long we keep information

We keep personal information for as long as needed for the purpose it was collected, and afterward for the period required by our professional, tax and legal record retention obligations. Inquiry information from visitors who do not become clients is retained for a reasonable period and then deleted.
